WHO Steve & Bucky
WHAT Stopping a mugging
WHERE The local corner store
They'd had a good day so far, just kind of wandering around the city. It was nice way to get familiarized again with their neighborhood, especially with what had changed and what was still the same. Some days were better than others when it came to whether or not he was good with memories of the past. Today was a good one, remembering some good times with his Ma and sisters. There were even a couple good Winter Soldier memories, at least in terms of killing people who really deserved it regardless of what HYDRA wanted. Mobsters taking advantage of lower income communities, trafficking in people as well as drugs and guns, Bucky didn't really lose sleep over those missions. He just tried to acknowledge that they happened and move on, focus on the present.
They'd been out for a couple hours, but it was nearing dinner time and Bucky was definitely getting hungry. "D'you mind if we stop at the corner store before we head up? I'm not sure what we've got for dinner." Usually, he was better about staying on top of grocery shopping and whatnot. They probably had something there for him to cobble together, but he couldn't remember any of the stuff they had off the top of his head. Maybe something at the store would strike his fancy.
"You in the mood for anything in particular?" he asked Steve as they turned down their block. The corner store was up ahead, open as expected. There was a teenager in a black hoodie and jeans kind of loitering, but Bucky reminded himself that he shouldn't always assume the worst in people. Even if he thought maybe this time, it might be ok.
